Giovanni was born in Sassari, Italy, and started his artistic career as actor.
In the meanwhile he started studying in Milano “Scuola Civica di Musica” where he had his first classes of music and voice coaching. Afterwards entered the Milan “G.Verdi” Conservatory where he stayed for two years. He also studied privately with Mr Anatolij Goussev, Mr Gianni Mastino and in Belcanto Academy with Mirella Freni and Nicolaij Ghiaurov in Modena, Italy.
He attended the Milan Polytechnic where he got a degree in Architecture with a final project on a Verdi’s “Otello” hypothetical set design for La Scala theatre.
He currently speaks English and Spanish and a little French. He can sing in Italian, English, French, German and Russian.
Giovanni held his first Masterclass on Italian diction and pronunciation at Cesena Conservatorium, during the year of Mozart’s celebrations. Since then he has been teaching Italian diction and pronunciation as well as singing technique privately in Rome. In summer 2016 he was invited by Sydney Conservatorium in Australia to hold a Masterclass on recitatives of “Così fan tutte” and one-on-one classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students. In summer 2017 he was in the Faculty of the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS, aimsgraz.com) Summer program in Graz, Austria.

He started his career in 1996 when he played the role of Uberto in Pergolesi’s “La serva padrona” conducted by M° Roberto Rizzi Brignoli in a production of Laboratorio Lirico di Palermo held by Mrs Elisabeth Smith-Lombardini.
Giovanni has been Dott Grenvil in Traviata in a production of Solopera company in Busan, South Korea , for Auditorium Bexco opening venue , M° Gianna Fratta conductor.
He sang in first absolute performance of contemporary opera Jaques by composer Marco Emanuele in in the role of Jaques father in Verbania for “Fedora” Award for chamber opera composition, Stefano Monti director, Marco Boni conductor and I Virtuosi Italiani as orchestra.
He has recently been invited again to sing in Cesena Bonci Theatre in the role of Betto di Signa in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
He sang in Venice, Gran Teatro La Fenice, as Lunardo, protagonist, in Wolf-Ferrari’s “I quatro rusteghi” for the centenary of the title, Tiziano Severini conductor, Davide Livermore director.
He was Gualtiero in Puccini’s Edgar in a production of Rome Euro Mediterraneo festival last july, available on DVD, edited by Pan Dream.
He was Don Fernando in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” in a production of Orchestra Sinfonica del Vallés at Barcelona Palau de La Musica Catalana, M°Edmon Colomer conductor. He also performed the same role in Sabadell and Palma de Mallorca.
He won the competition “Primo palcoscenico” twice and played the role of Colline in “Boheme” in Cesena Teatro Bonci, Gabriella Medetti director, M° Giovanni Bartoli conductor and lately the Count Robinson in Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto”, M°Luis Alva director, again in Cesena, Italy, with very good press releases.
He was Zuniga in “Carmen”, opera-comique version, in Sassari, Mario Pontiggia director, Eric Hull conductor and returned there the following season to play the role of Monterone in Verdi’s “Rigoletto”, M° Elisabetta Maschio conductor and of Fleville in Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier”, M° Francesco Rosa conductor, Jun Aguni director.
He played the role of Pistola in G.Verdi’s “Falstaff” in Porto Teatro Coliseu, Tim Coleman director, Marc Tardue conductor.
He was Osmin in Mozart’s “Die Entfürung aus dem Sehrail” with M° Claire Gibault conductor and Fabio Sparvoli director and soon after he played the role of Orco in Henze’s “Pollicino” in Rome Teatro Vascello, Daniele Abbado director, M° Claire Gibault conductor, both productions of Musica per Roma.
He took part to first world premiere of Ezra Pound’s opera “Cavalcanti” in Bolzano Nuovo Teatro, M°Marcello Fera director and conductor, playing different roles as opera singer and actor.
He was Fiorello in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia“ in Parma Teatro Regio, M°Simone Fermani conductor.
He sang the role of Alidoro in Rossini’s “Cenerentola” in Savona Teatro Chiabrera and in Fermo Teatro dell’Aquila. Then he was Zuniga in Bizet’s “Carmen” during Bassano Opera Festival, M° Janos Acs conductor, and soon after in Adria, Padova e Lonigo theatres, M° Alessandro Sangiorgi conductor.
He took part to the masterclass “The actor-singer“ held by Walton Foundation with M° Stephen Lord and director Colin Graham, during which he was Ariadeno in Cavalli’s “L’Ormindo”
He sang in Trapani Luglio Musicale as Haly in Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri”, Filippo Zigante conductor, Mario Corradi director.
He was Leporello in Perugia Teatro Morlacchi in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in a production of
Fondazione Umbria Spettacolo.
He sang several times in Messina Teatro Vittorio Emanuele where he was Fernando in Rossini’s “La gazza ladra”, M° Bruno Aprea conductor, Bartolo in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”, M° Fabrizio Carminati conductor and Angelotti in Puccini’s “Tosca” ( he had already played this role in Santa Cruz de Tenerife Guimerà Theatre).
He was soloist in Mozart’s “Coronation mass” in Pamplona Teatro Gayarre, M° Vladimir Spivakov conductor, and in the same theatre he played the role of Raimondo in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor”, M°Miquel Ortega y Pujol conductor.
He played the role of Don Trastullo in Jommelli’s “La cantata e disfida di Don Trastullo” in a production of Milano “Società dell’opera buffa” held by M° Alberto Veronesi in Lecco Teatro della Società ed in Soresina Teatro Comunale.
